Restrictions on Polluting Trucks
Since January 1, 2021, only trucks certified Euro 1, 2, 3, and 4 are permitted to enter and circulate within the Port of Leixões.
For trucks registered up to December 31, 2020, transitional periods have been defined to adapt to the new pollution emission control standards, as follows:
Trucks EURO 1 and EURO 2 are prohibited from entering the Port of Leixões starting January 1, 2023.
Trucks EURO 3 and EURO 4 will have a 36-month period from January 2021 for this renewal.
Trucks that regularly circulate within the Port of Leixões do not require prior registration. Registrations are carried out automatically when the vehicle passes through the gate scanner, generating a list of all trucks that have circulated in Leixões up to the specified date. After these periods, only EURO 5 and 6 trucks will be authorized to circulate within the Port of Leixões.
