Portuguese Minister of the Sea presents new strategy for ocean renewable energies
ON NOVEMBER 26TH AT THE PORTO CRUISE TERMINAL
Among the initiatives marking the first year of the twenty-first Portuguese Constitutional Government, the industrial strategy of ocean renewable energy was publicly presented by the Portuguese Minister of the Sea, Ms. Ana Paula Vitorino on November 26 at the new cruise terminal of the Port of Leixões.
During this presentation it was also presented the Working Group Report "Energy at Sea - A Roadmap for an Industrial Strategy of Ocean Renewable Energy", which was attended by the Portuguese Minister of National Defence, Mr. José Azeredo Lopes, the Portuguese Minister of Economy, Mr. Manuel Caldeira Cabral and the President of the Municipality of Matosinhos, Mr. Guilherme Pinto.
It was discussed the model of sustainable development of ocean renewable energies in Portugal, namely the best practices and guiding principles for the competitiveness of this sector with regard to emerging technologies such as floating offshore wind energy and wave energy.
This initiative will define the strategic guidelines for the creation of an industrial cluster of ocean renewable energies in Portugal.
