Hapag-Lloyd launches new North America Service at Leixões
MEDITERRANEAN SERVICE CANADA (MCA) MADE ITS FIRST CALL IN EARLY DECEMBER
The Port of Leixões has inaugurated a direct connection to North America market for exports with the 'Mediterranean Canada Service' (MCA) from the German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd. The first call of MCA it was on the 1st of December 2015 and from now on Hapag-Lloyd´s MCA Service will operate in Portugal from Leixões.
The MCA is a weekly service for containerized cargo operated by five ships with an average capacity of 2.200 TEUs and 240 reefers plugs, which will connect Portugal and Canada with a transit time of nine days.
From Montreal, cargo can be sent by rail to the inside of Canada or by coastal shipping to major destinations on the Atlantic coast of the US.
