Cruises at the Port of Leixões - report from Rádio Renascença

On 8 October, the Port of Leixões welcomed two cruise ships. Seven Seas Voyager from Regent Seven Seas company and Nautica from Oceania Cruises arrived Leixões by dawn. On this day, a reporter from Radio Renascença, Mr. André Rodrigues, head of "Emprego sem Fronteiras" program, was expecting them ashore.

The motto of the story was the growing cruise activity at Leixões. This growth was responsible for higher employment in tourism, also increasing the demand for guides and interpreters, which were highly praised during this report.

Visits to Porto and North of Portugal, shopping or visits to the main monuments are some of the many topics of significant external revenue to the region.

With the new Cruise Terminal in full operation, expectations of growth in cruise sector are common to all providers. APDL is developing all efforts to meet those same expectations.

André Rodrigues concludes the article saying that "the new Cruise Terminal is a bet of the Port Authority on Cruise Industry and it is one good example of how community investment can be an economic stimulus generator for the region and, at the same time, generator of new employment".
