Porto Cruise Terminal welcomed inaugural call of Viking Star
Viking Star cruise ship has made its debut at the Porto Cruise Terminal on Oct. 2.
The ship arrives at the Port of Leixões after a voyage from Portsmouth, part of a 14-night cruise that traces the ‘Trade Routes Of The Middle Ages'. The cruise started in Viking Star's homeport of Bergen, Norway, also visiting Amsterdam, Bruges and Le Havre. After leaving Leixões it heads to Malaga and Cartagena. Carried 900 guests, mostly Americans, and 600 crew members.
Launched in 2015, Viking Star was designed by SMC Design of London, while Rottet Studio in Los Angeles was engaged to design her interior. Classified by Cruise Critic as a small ship with 228 meters in length and 47.800 of gross tonnage, Viking Star features understated elegance and modern Scandinavian design with a focus on destinations.
As usual, the Port Authority prepared a welcome programme to celebrate this first visit to Leixões. An exchange of commemorative plaques with Viking Star's captain and port authorities was held on board. Passengers and crew members were welcomed at the Porto Cruise Terminal with a Port Wine Tasting.
We look forward to seeing her again in 2018.
