On August 26, the Port of Leixões welcomed AIDASol cruise ship for the first time. The ship arrived with 2.500 passengers and nearly 650 crew members.

AIDASol is on its 14 days voyage from Hamburg (Germany) to Gran Canaria (Spain), also visiting the ports of Dover, Le Havre, Ferrol, Lisbon, Cadiz, Funchal and Tenerife.

She is a Sphinx class cruise ship from the American/British owned German cruise line Aida Cruises, based in Rostock.

Like all Aida Cruises ships, its trade mark is the smiling kissing lipson the bow and its paintings will arouse the local curiosity.

As usual, the Port Authority of Leixões prepared a welcome programme to celebrate the inaugural call of this amazing and modern cruise ship. An exchange of commemorative plaques between the captain of the ship and port authorities was held on board. Passengers and crew members were welcomed at the Porto Cruise Terminal with a Port Wine Tasting.

AIDASol will return to Leixões on the 7th of October.
