Porto Cruise Terminal welcome Magellan's first call

During this year 13 cruise ships will be new to the port

On January 4, the Porto Cruise Terminal welcomed the maiden call of Magellan´s cruise ship, which is operated by Cruise & Maritime Voyages. This is the first cruise ship call of 2018 out of 113 calls scheduled until the end of the year. Furthermore, 13 cruise ships will be new to Leixões this year.

The Magellan arrived at Leixões with 1.161 passengers on board (mostly British) and also 560 crew members. The ship is on it's 21 Nights Christmas & New Year Cape Verde, Madeira & Canaries Voyage  from Amsterdam also visiting Vigo, Lisbon, Mindelo and Praia in Cape Verde, Tenerife, St. Cruz de la Palma and Arrecife in the Canary Islands, Funchal, Leixões and London.

She was launched in 1985 for Carnival Cruise Lines under the name Holiday but since 2015 is sailing for Cruise & Maritime Voyages under the name Magellan. She is 222 meters long with 46.052 of gross tonnage and the capacity to accomodate almost 1.500 passaengers.

In order to celebrate this first call at Leixões, it took place on board of Magellan a plaque exchange ceremony between Port Authority and Magellan's Captain.


Magellan will return to the Porto Cruise Terminal next August.
