Port of Leixões welcomed maiden call of AIDAVita
On October 31, the Port of Leixões welcomed AIDAVita cruise ship for the first time.
AIDAVita arrived at the Porto Cruise Terminal with 1.317 passengers on board (mostly Germans) and also 402 crew members. She is on its 12 night's voyage from Hamburg to Gran Canaria visiting the ports of Dover, Le Havre, Ferrol, Leixões, Lisbon, Cadiz and Arrecife.
AIDAVita is the second ship to join the rapidly growing AIDA Cruises' fleet, which has now 11 cruise vessels. AIDAVita is the forth one visiting Leixões after AIDALuna, AIDAMar and AIDASol. She was built in 2002 with 203m of length and 42.289 GT, accomodating almost 1.400 passengers and 426 crew members on board.
Like all AIDA Cruises' vessels its trade mark is the smiling kissing lipson the bow and its paintings always arouses local curiosity.
As usual, the Port Authority of Leixões prepared a welcome programme to celebrate the inaugural call AIDAVita. An exchange of commemorative plaques between AIDAVita's captain and the Port Authority was held on board. Passengers and crew members were welcomed at the Porto Cruise Terminal with Souveniers and a Port Wine Tasting.
AIDAVita will return to the Porto Cruise Terminal next December.
