Founded on 2 September 1996

AIMS

  • Encourage and promote the development of the Ports of Douro and Leixões;
     
  • Contribute to the rationalisation, efficiency and alleviation of bureaucratic administrative procedures;
     
  • Promote rationalisation of the existing structural areas;
     
  • Promote articulation with the other national ports in the adoption of a policy leading to fair competition in the activity;
     
  • Promote articulation between the different alternative means of transport, with a view to providing greater efficiency and operability of the intermodal transport;
     
  • Promote the development of cabotage navigation;
     
  • Project the Port of Leixões in order to make it an essential component in the development of Iberian, European and transcontinental traffic, empowering the creation of a "transhipment" and "feedering" platform;
     
  • Collaborate in all legislative revision proposals that are related with the port activity.
